There are 2,400 camping sites in Banff National Park's 14 campgrounds.
Most of Banff's camping is seasonal from mid-May to mid-October,
but there is one campground in Banff and one in Lake Louise that is open year-round.

Reserving a campsite at Protection Mountain Campground:
Tunnel Mountain, Two Jack Main Campground, Two Jack Lakeside, Johnston Canyon Campground, Lake Louise Soft-sided, Lake Louise Hard-sided, Silverhorn Creek Campground and Rampart Creek Campground can be reserved by telephone at 1-877-737-3783.
All other Banff roadside campgrounds operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Protection Mountain Campground is located 15 km east of Lake Louise on the scenic Bow Valley Parkway (Hwy 1A). This open campground offers impressive views of both Protection and Castle Mountains and is an excellent location for evening star gazing.

Protection Mountain Campsites are unserviced and best suited for tents, or motorhomes and trailers up to 10 meters (35 feet).

Leave your vehicle at Protection Mountain Campground and roam Public Transit. Bus service to both Lake Louise and the town of Banff exists throughout the summer months.

RV campers may use the sani-dump located at Lake Louise Campground. There is limited cell coverage at the Protection Mountain site and on the Bow Valley Parkway.
